What is an EWOF?
An Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF) is required for caravans, motorhomes, most boats and cabins that connect to an external power supply (e.g. campground power) and insurance purposes.
The inspection ensures your vehicle complies with:
-
AS/NZS 3001 Electrical Installations – Transportable Structures and Vehicles
-
New Zealand Electrical (Safety) Regulations
An EWOF is valid for 4 years from the date of issue.

What We Check
During your EWOF inspection, we assess:
-
Mains inlet and RCD protection
-
Earthing and bonding
-
Switchboard condition and labelling
-
Wiring integrity and protection
-
Socket outlets and fittings
-
Polarity and insulation resistance
-
Overall compliance with current standards

If it passes
If it meets all compliance requirements:
✔ An EWOF label will be issued
✔ A written copy of the EWOF information will be provided.
✔ Your EWOF will be valid for 4 years
✔ You are safe and compliant to connect to powered sites

If it fails
If any part of your installation does not meet compliance standards:
-
We will clearly explain the reasons for failure
-
You will receive a written summary of the required remedial work
-
No EWOF will be issued until faults are rectified
-
We can provide a quote to complete the required repairs (if requested)
-
If remedial work is completed within 28 days of first inspection only travel will be charged for reinspection.
Please note: An EWOF cannot legally be issued until all compliance issues are resolved.
